Lazy Sunday Trujillo, La Libertad, Peru, Sunday, 10 April 2005 8:40pm

I was too tired in the morning to make it out to the pyramids. i must be near the end of my travelling energy. I've been exhausted the last few days. A good night's sleep in my own bed is sounding really nice right now.

I spent the day wandering around the city a bit and taking some pictures of the colonial architecture. The city is very quiet on Sunday afternoon.

I dropped in at the Museum of Toys, which is upstairs from a nice little cafe where I had dinner last night. The collection spans from pre-Columbian whistles and rattles to model cars and trains from the 1950s (the sign at the door said that mass production made toys less interesting after that).

I had really good pizza at Pizza Roma (I'm a little tired of criolla food at the moment). There was a pizza place in Cajamarca that claimed to make New York style pizza. They got the crust and sauce right, but were hampered by bad cheese. Roma gets everything right.

Desert was a piping-hot churro, filled with manjar blanco (a rice-based sweet paste). I've been avoiding street vendor food, but I figure that anything that survives the boiling oil would find a way to get me even if I didn't eat it.
