We left Athens today. After breakfast, we hopped on the Metro to Piraeus, the port that has served Athens since ancient times. After wandering around a bit in search of Calamari, we boarded a "Flying Dolphin" ferry to the island of Hydra.
Hydra is refreshingly quiet after Athens. They have no cars (though they do permit a few trucks for trash collection and firefighting) or motorcycles. We did a quick walking tour around the harbor, where we learned that this is the place where the fire-ship tactic was invented (fill an old ship full of flammables and gunpowder, ram it into an enemy ship, and set it ablaze).
Sunset was spectacular.
