Unfortunately, I got food poisoning on my penultimate night in Spain. The less said about that the better, but I'm really glad that it didn't happen just before I had to get on a plane. Adrienne was kind enough to bring me some drinks and some Spanish medicine from a local pharmacy. I spent the day in the hotel, while she scouted the best of the Fallas.
In the evening, I rallied, and we spent several hours checking out the sculptures. They're amazing. many of them are several stories tall, gravity defying, and beautifully sculpted.
The crowds were very dense around the more spectacular ones, and it took us a long time to get from one to the next, so we had to be selective about which ones we wanted to see. There was one of the ninot miniatures that we'd both liked, and the internet was able to tell us that it was the entry for "SUECA - LITERATO AZORIN", which turned out to be further south than we'd been before, so we walked over there, passing through the parade route near the bull ring and the train station, and navigating through a block-long 3-story music-synced lightshow. The sculpture was one of the best we'd seen (I think it ended up taking 3rd place overall, but I'm not positive that I understand how the categories work).
