Cozumel Non-diving San Miguel de Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico, Wednesday, 20 February 2013 8:37pm

Today was a full non-diving day on Cozumel. Heidi rented a jeep and we went for a trip to the Mayan ruins at San Gervasio and spent a couple of hours hiking around there. There are quite a few iguanas there, mostly with a pretty black-and-white patterning.

We stopped for some lunch at a seafood-centric taqueria (yum) and then picked up Bo's luggage and dropped him at the airport. Afterwards, Heidi and I drove all the way around the island, stopping at the Punta Sur Ecopark, where we checked out some crocodiles and climbed the lighthouse for some pretty good views of the island (flat) and the ocean (mildly stormy).

On the way back, we stopped by one of the touristy "beach clubs" and sat and sipped beach drinks and looked at the sea until we couldn't take the music any more (Phil Collins pushed us over the edge), and headed back to town, where we watched the sunset and the departure of a gigantic cruise ship.

Our hotel made a mistake with our reservations, and ended up downgrading me to a cheaper room for two of the nights that we prepaid. They were somehow unable to refund the difference or cancel the reservation and let us go elsewhere ("because you paid over the internet"), so they gave us free drinks at the hotel bar. Sadly, the bartender who makes the really tasty margaritas is off tonight.
