Out of tourist country Puerto Montt, Chile, Tuesday, 08 March 2005 10:15pm

Puerto Montt is the first place we've been that feels like a city. Lots of people going about their business, none of which is related to tourism.

In fact, we've been having a hard time finding the Sernatur (National Tourist Service) office. Everyone claims it's somewhere different, and each time we go to where we've been told, it turns out it's not there. Jenny's guidebook says that there are many tourist "information" places, but that only Sernatur is useful. We definitely spent some time talking to a less-than-useful municipal tourism agency.

They say that all of the chicken eaten in Chile comes from this region. The fried chicken is definitely good.

i'm so glad you guys all found each other. i was on the edge of my seat with the story. sounds like it worked out perfectly!

aneel do you want me to bring you a travel wallet/belt since yours broke?

Thanks, but... aneel Friday, 11 March 2005 5:40pm

I had that travel belt because it was a resizeable non-military cloth belt, not because of the travel feature. I've replaced its belt-function.
