SushiRice

Shari or Sushi-meshi

  • 2 c dry sushi rice
  • water
  • 1/2 c rice vinegar
  • 1 T vegetable oil
  • 1/4 c sugar
  • 1 t salt
Wash rice thoroughly. Rinse water should run clear. Cook rice in rice cooker. Allow to cool enough to handle.

In small saucepan, combine other ingredients. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Allow to cool. Stir into rice. The mixture will appear wet at first, but it should be absorbed by the rice as it is mixed and cools.

These proportions were too strong. Change ratio of rice to mixture.
